Notes
- All KPIs are global unless otherwise indicated.
- Boundaries of Occupational Health and Safety data: Colgate-owned or operated manufacturing facilities, including joint ventures where Colgate owns > 50%. It also includes all Regional Technical Centers and stand-alone subsidiary office operations as well as Colgate corporate headquarters in New York and Hill's corporate headquarters in Kansas.
- Boundaries of Environmental data: Colgate-owned or operated manufacturing facilities, including joint ventures where Colgate owns >50%. It also includes Colgate Regional Technical Centers and offices and warehouses which are co-located with a manufacturing site. It does not include stand-alone office or warehouse operations.
- Definitions and units provided when necessary.
- We use the WBCSD/WRI Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Initiative as guidance in evaluating our CO2 inventory and in estimating our CO2 emissions. Energy data is collected via our environmental database quarterly from global manufacturing and research facilities. Calculations are then used to estimate the associated CO2 emissions. To calculate our direct emissions, we use emissions factors provided in the WBCSD/WRI calculation tools. For indirect emissions, we use country-specific factors provided periodically through WBCSD/WRI.
- In alignment with the WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol, we have established a set of guidelines to consistently account for structural changes within the company (such as acquisitions, divestitures, plant closures and new plants) as they occur. The GHG Protocol suggests methods to continuously adjust the baseline data, and we have adopted this approach wherever practical.
